Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC) Internship
We are looking for a motivated Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC) Internship to join our team and support the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity practices across the organization. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in information security, cyber threat monitoring, incident response, risk management, and security compliance while working alongside experienced IT and security professionals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor for attacks, intrusions and unusual, unauthorized or illegal activity
Monitor identity and access management, including monitoring for abuse of permissions by authorized system users
User Access management (controls to implement secure access and security best practices )
Maintain an information security risk register and assist with internal and external audits relating to information security
Keep up to date with the latest security updates, Antimalware, security patches, and technology developments
Design new security systems or upgrade existing ones
Identify potential weaknesses including venerability scans and implement measures, such is antivirus, firewalls , IDS/IPS , encryption etc.
Investigate security alerts and provide incident response
Develop and manage the frameworks, processes, tools and consultancy necessary for IT Security activities.
Assist with the creation, maintenance and delivery of cyber security awareness training for colleagues
Ability to ensure standards such is as ISO 27001/2, SANS top 20 and NIST 800-53 and parameters for any systems on the IPKO LLC network
Regularly check the implementation status of processes in Security Management System (ISMS) implementation
Requirements
Must be a student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field;
Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, threats, and best practices;
Ability to monitor systems for unusual activity and perform basic incident detection;
Understanding of risk assessment and documentation (e.g., maintaining risk registers);
Willingness to stay updated with the latest security patches, tools, and technology trends;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data integrity;
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with IT teams.
